TT Marshals recruitment

A MARSHALS’ recruitment drive on Saturday will take place outside the Sure shop in Strand Street in Douglas.

From 9.30am to 4pm representatives from the TT Marshals’ Association will be in position to answer questions from members of the public about marshalling and recruit some extra man – and woman – power to help out with the races next month. At 10.30am, the Sure shop will also be the starting point for a six-mile sponsored bed push around the capital featuring teams from Sure, Vagabonds Men, Vagabonds Women, Apeman Project, Ramsey Grammar School staff and the TT Marshals’ Association. All proceeds from the bed push will be shared between Rebecca House, the hyperbaric chamber and Hogg Rescue.

The association needs just over 500 marshals to meet the minimum manning level for races and practices to run and is particularly keen to recruit volunteers on the island to ensure the necessary personnel is available at the beginning of the event before visiting marshals have arrived. Marshals who have not yet signed up are being asked to do so as soon as possible. This year the association piloted an online signing on system which proved a success.
