UNATTENDED candals set fire to a plastic sink in a bathroom and led to a callout for firefighters.
At about 2.15pm on Thursday crews from Douglas fire station were sent to a report of a house fire in one of the chalets to the rear of Shoprite, Victoria Road, Douglas.
Crewss were confronted with thick black smoke issuing from the front door of the property..
Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building using a high pressure hose reel and a thermal image camera.
Crews quickly discovered that all residents were accounted for and that there was no one in the property at the time of the fire.
The fire was located in the ground floor bathroom of the property and was extinguished using a high pressure hose reel. Crews later used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke.
There was fire damage throughout the bathroom area along with smoke damage to the rest of the property.
Fire crews left the scene at about 3pm.
