THE new group of student police officers hosted a cops and robbers charity challenge day at Mooragh Park, Ramsey, on Saturday.
Every year the students set themselves a tough task and their challenge at the weekend was to kayak around the lake covering the distance required for one lap of the TT mountain course, which they successfully completed as a relay in about four and a half hours.
This year’s chosen charity was Give A Gift, which gives gifts to struggling members of the public. As well as raising cash during the family fun day, which also included face painting, fancy dress, football shoot outs and even a bouncy castle, the new officers also took the opportunity to introduce themselves to members of the public.
Student Constable David Reekie, 30, explained: ‘It went really well. Lots of people came down to have a go on the bouncy castle and watch us kayaking. We are still counting the cash raised.’
