THE Post Office has advised of changes to operation and opening times over the Easter period.

Tomorrow (Good Friday, March 29) mail will be received from the UK early morning as normal with mail deliveries taking place to all residential addresses and a Saturday service operating for business customers.

The customer services centre at postal headquarters will be open from 7am to 12.30pm, providing all post office services from foreign exchange, vehicle licensing, banking facilities, MoneyGram to packaging materials being available.

Meanwhile, Ramsey sorting office (6am-12.30pm) and the southern postal delivery Office (7.30am-12.30pm) will also be open.

However, all post offices across the island will be closed and there will be no collections or a despatch of mail to the UK that evening. Pensions and allowances due for payment on Friday could be collected from March 22.

On Easter Saturday (March 30) there will be no mail deliveries or collections although all post offices will be open as normal. Although the customer services centre at postal headquarters will be closed.

On Easter Monday (April 1), no deliveries or collections will be made and all post offices will be closed. Pensions and allowances due for payment on April 1 can be collected this week.

Mail deliveries and post office opening hours will return to normal on Tuesday, April 2.

For more information including details of guarantees for items sent using next-day special delivery, Parcelforce next day and 48-hour services during Easter contact the post office.

• Meanwhile, heavy snow has affected postal deliveries. The areas still affected as of yesterday (Wednesday) were: Ballaugh, Kirk Michael, parts of Jurby and the Curraghs, Cronk-y-Voddy, tops of Ballakillowey and Ronague, some areas in St Mark’s and some areas of Foxdale, as well as Glen Helen, Glen Eagles, the top of Agneash and in Peel posties were delivering mail where they could.

The post office said that due to the weather impacting on deliveries, the volume of mail is heavy but with postal deliveries operating on Good Friday, it expected to be on top of everything by the end of the week, dependent – of course – on all areas becoming accessible.
