A DOUGLAS couple are really on the case with an innovative new business venture.
Their website allows smartphone users to indulge in the devices by treating themselves to hard-wearing cases featuring images either from an online library or those of their own choice.
Ed and Caroline Troup, both aged 37, established onthecase.im in February – and the business has quickly established itself by attracting sales from across the globe.
In addition to sales on-island and the UK, the cases have been exported to Scandinavia, America and Australia, with interest steadily rising.
And that trend is set to continue after the fledgling firm was recently granted the license to produce goods bearing the official Isle of Man TT branding.
Ed said: ‘We are absolutely thrilled to have received such a great opportunity.
‘Already we have some great ideas on how we can give visiting TT fans a real high quality product to take home this June.’
The business is based on the sale of robust, lightweight polycarbonate cases, which showcase the work of an artist or photographer, who, in turn, receives a commission on each unit sale.
The cases currently cater for iPhone 3, 4 and 5 users as well those using the Samsung Galaxy SIII, but plans are in place to extend the range soon.
As well as a retail operation, onthecase.im is able to offer wholesale discounts and can personalise the cases.
The ability to print any high resolution image on mobile covers means that it is able to provide a bespoke service to anyone who would like to display their favourite pictures – perhaps memories of family events, holidays with friends, pets or even a special romantic moment.
Glenn Blevins, corporate relations manager, said: Our aim is to produce a quality product to a range of clients, from individuals to corporate entities alike.
‘We strongly believe that mobile phone covers are a unique opportunity for individuals to express themselves and display affiliations with favourite [TT] riders or to provide a platform for corporate entities to showcase their logos and branding.
‘Our business model is based on honesty, integrity and is designed to provide a friendly and efficient customer experience.’
