COULD international singing star Katie Melua be about to make her home in the Isle of Man?

The Closest Thing to Crazy star has just announced her engagement to Port Soderick resident, two time World Superbike Champion and former MotoGP star James Toseland.

The UK tabloid press was buzzing with news of the pair this week until the engagement was officially confirmed on 27-year-old Melua’s official website in a statement which said: ‘Following speculation in the press, Dramatico Entertainment are delighted to confirm the engagement of Katie Melua and James Toseland. We wish them happiness in their life together.’

The couple have been together since April last year and made their most recent public appearance at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards, at which Manx cycling champion Mark Cavendish took the top honour. Toseland took the accolade in 2007.

Georgian-born Melua’s hits include Nine Million Bicycles. Since announcing his retirement from professional racing last year, Toseland, 31, is rumoured to be planning to follow his future wife into a career in music. An accomplished pianist, he already sings and plays with his band Crash around the UK and has also performed at Peel Day during TT fortnight.
