THERE’S still time for entrepreneurs to put their skills to good use in support of this year’s ‘Fifty Quid Think Big Challenge’ to raise funds for The Children’s Centre.
The fundraising campaign involves teams or individuals being given £50 ‘seed money’ and asked to ‘grow’ this money - in any way that is legal and ethical - over a six-week period.
Paragon Recruitment is again generously supporting the Think Big Challenge by providing the seed money to start off the fundraisers. All proceeds raised from the event go to support The Children’s Centre’s projects Out2Play, Mobex, Child Contact Centre, Community Development and the Community Farm. This year’s challenge runs from February 18 to March 28.
Teams can enter even after the challenge begins on February 18, but that would put them at a slight disadvantage to other teams so organisers are urging businesses or other organisations to sign up as soon as possible.
Capital International won the 2012 event raising £1,431.80. Teams representing Isle of Man Ship Registry, 2nd Onchan Scouts Group, Port St Mary Dental Practice, and Onchan Rotary Club also raised valuable funds for the island’s leading charity for children and families.
In the 2012 competition teams used a variety of ways to raise funds including organising car boot sales, bap sales, and raffles which all added to a magnificent total of £4,537.
Michelle O’Malley, fundraising manager for The Children’s Centre, said: ‘This will be the third year we have organised the Fifty Quid Think Big Challenge and once again we’re extremely grateful for the support from Paragon Recruitment.
‘In the past two years the event has raised more than £10,000 for The Children’s Centre’s charitable projects and all of the teams that have taken part have always put in a lot of hard work while having fun at the same time.’
As well as being a fun event the challenge can also prove valuable as a team building exercise for the businesses and organisations that take part. All those that enter receive support from The Children’s Centre’s fundraising team who provide a wealth of resources, handy tips and advice.
