A WOMAN with island links has been found stabbed to death in Northumberland.

The body of Tina Casey was found at her home in Wallridge Drive, Holywell, on Monday (February 4).

She was found after police investigating a crash in Shiremoor, North Tyneside, found items in the car which led them to her address.

Officers forced their way into the 42-year-old’s home at around midday on Monday, less than an hour after the crash. A post-mortem examination conducted on Tuesday established that the cause of her death was stab wounds.

Neighbours in Holywell said Ms Casey originally came from the Isle of Man although she had lived in the North East for quite a few years. It is understood that she still has relatives living in the island.

Police inquiries are continuing and two people, a 32-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman, were arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder.

The 32-year-old man has now been bailed. The 57-year-old woman – who was the driver of the car that crashed in Shiremoor – remains in hospital in a stable condition.

A bunch of flowers was left outside Ms Casey’s house with the words ‘Sadly missed’ written on an accompanying card. Neighbour Sydney Henderson said: ‘It is all very sad. It is terrible what has happened to her.’
