CUSTOMERS at the clothing shop M&Co can be assured of good service with two of its staff having been nominated in the Isle of Man Newspapers and Flybe Pride in Mann Awards.

Debbie Barrow has worked at the shop for almost two years and was nominated by customer Carole Blount. Mrs Blount said: ‘She is a fantastic person and will help you out no matter what and she is a lovely girl – cheery with a good manner about her.’

Debbie, aged 41, who lives at Turnberry Avenue in Onchan, was flattered by the nomination.

‘I do always try to go that extra mile,’ she said.

‘We are not scared of hard work here. I have been here for nearly two years now and I enjoy my job.’

Melissa Willets, who nominated Mandy Peacock, also of M&Co, said: ‘She really is a lovely person.

When I go in the shop nothing is too much trouble and she always has a smile. I am a regular customer in the shop and the service stands out in the island.’

Mandy, who is 47, and has worked at the shop for four years, told the Examiner: ‘I am really chuffed with the nomination – particularly after receiving one last year too. It is nice to receive it.

‘We have lovely customers here, too, including a number of regulars and we try to do our best for them all.’

Mandy, of Harcross Meadows, worked previously in customer services at the airport and is one of the shop’s longest-serving members of staff.

‘As long as I’m working with people every day I’m happy,’ she said.

The shop’s assistant manager, Angela Spencer, said both women were helpful and friendly with the customers.

‘Customer service is the priority here and they both take care to ensure customers leave us feeling pleased,’ she said.

Pride in Mann is an awards scheme from Isle of Man Newspapers and Flybe which aims to recognise unsung heroes in the Manx community.

The competition sees the public invited to nominate people they feel are worthy recipients of an award across 10 categories. Each person nominated will be recognised in one of our newspapers and later there will be a public vote to find the categories’ winners.

The categories for this year’s Pride in Mann awards are: Promotion of Manx Culture, Performer of the Year, Teacher of the Year, Sporting Acheivement, Young Person of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Linking with Schools, Customer Service and Family Business.
