COMMUNICATING with representatives in 12 different countries at the same time requires a great deal of planning.

That’s what happened when one of the island’s leading providers of trust, fiduciary and corporate services hosted a huge conference call from its base in the island.

BWO Oakfield (BWO) hailed the event a success.

It was described by BWO as the inaugural conference for the Kreston special interest group.

The newly launched group is aimed at connecting Kreston International’s firms engaged in fiduciary services, and incorporates firms from 12 different countries including the Isle of Man.

The other countries are the British Virgin Islands, Cyprus, Jersey, Liechenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Mauritius, Qatar, Singapore, Switzerland and Taiwan.

BWO’s managing director Stewart Davies said, ‘This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for providing a dedicated central resource for the wider network, cross border business development and intelligence sharing.

‘Feedback from our first conference was extremely promising, and we are looking forward to the future opportunities the International Wealth and Fiduciary Services Group will bring’.

Kreston International is a global network of independent accounting firms with more than 600 firms in 98 countries, providing a resource of over 19,000 professional and support staff. BWO is the Isle of Man’s representative of the network.

News of the new group was first revealed by Business News a fortnight ago.

The meeting took place last Tuesday (Jan 15) at BWO’s offices at Millennium House, Victoria Road, Douglas, and lasted for one hour.

A spokesman said the gathering took the form of a conference call with a representative of each country.

She said it was scheduled to take place at midday our time to fit in with international time schedules.

For some it meant getting into work early while others found themselves staying on in to the evening.

For instance Taiwan is eight hours ahead while the British Virgin Islands is four hours behind.

The spokesman said: ‘It took quite a bit of planning but it all went without a hitch.’ Following on from this success she said another conference is planned for later this year somewhere in Europe when delegates will be gathered in person.

l BW Oakfield Group is licensed by the Isle of Man Financial Supervision as a Trust and Corporate Service Provider.
