A meeting will be held next week to discuss the fact that people aged 75 and over will have to pay for their TV licences from September 1.

Numerous groups including the Royal Artillery Association, Royal British Legion, RAF and Royal Navy have called for the meeting following the announcement last week.

The meeting will take place on Thursday, July 21 at 2pm at The Manx Legion Club in Douglas.

A colour TV Licence costs £145.50 and a black and white TV Licence costs £49.

Ending the free TV licence on a universal basis was approved by Tynwald as part of the February 2015 Budget.

The Manx government said those aged75 and older will have to pay for their TV licence but those in receipt of income support will still be eligible for help under a local scheme.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
