A teenage Manx girl has received a message from pop star Katy Perry.
Sophie Birtles has the rare degenerative disorder juvenile Sandhoff disease and her dying wish was to hear from her heroine.
Now, after an online campaign which has gathered support from thousands of people, the 13-year-old’s dream has come true.
Katy Perry, whose hits include ‘Firework’, has sent a video message which Sophie will watch when she wakes up today.
The campaign on twitter #YoureAFireworkSophie was trending which means it was one of the most popular stories on the website.
Sophie is staying at Rebecca House Children’s Hospital in Braddan.
