The island’s nationalised bus service has announced changes to the timetables.
They will take effect from March 7.
A new Journey Planner and Timetables booklet is being published and will be available free from the Welcome Centre in Douglas Sea Terminal and bus and rail stations in advance of its implementation. The new timetables can already be read online via www.bus.im.
Kate Beecroft MHK, political member responsible for public transport, said: ‘The timetable is regularly reviewed in response to passenger feedback and for operational reasons.
‘For instance, minor alterations to the southern services from March 7 result from passengers’ suggestions and following correspondence with Juan Watterson, MHK for Rushen, on behalf of his constituents.
‘We are happy to have been able to improve the service in line with passengers’ wishes. Another improvement is a revision to the Sunday times of the service 3 between Douglas and Ramsey and an increased evening service on Sundays.’
A total of 3,348,296 passengers journeys were taken on Bus Vannin services during 2015.
Implementing the new Ticketer system and introducing smart cards across all bus services has enabled accurate figures to be produced for the first time.
Mrs Beecroft said: ‘We can’t benchmark these figures against previous years because they weren’t collected accurately before Ticketer was installed. However, we are happy to publish the number of journeys made on bus vannin services last year and we look forward to building on that in 2016 and future years.’
Key changes to the current timetable are:
