It’s all change for the Post Office in the north of the island.

The current Ramsey sorting office has been re-named ‘Northern Delivery Office’ and will move to a new home from Monday, February 22.

The office will move slightly closer to the town centre, from Gladstone Industrial Park to the newly renovated former Chrystals Auction House site in Gladstone Way in Ramsey.

Graham Cregeen MHK, chairman of Isle of Man Post Office, said: ‘The move will afford staff with an enhanced working environment, especially for mail loading and unloading. Additionally a customer area with improved parking facilities and disabled access has been created and the range of post office services currently available for customers including collect mail, the sale of stamps, posting parcels and other mail, ReDirect and KeepSafe will continue to remain available at the office.’

Geoff Rickard, of Isle of Man Post Office, said: ‘The new delivery office is a little nearer the town than the old premises and is a more secure site with better parking. Additionally the new building is home to a number of energy conservation efficiencies adding to Isle of Man Post Office’s “green” properties portfolio.’

He added: “The range of post office services currently available will remain on offer for customers, with deliveries and collections for the North of the Island continuing to be made from the Northern Delivery Office including the option to collect parcels for those customers who use Ramsey Sorting Office currently. The new office has room for expansion, an important factor for us given the growth in parcels and packets deliveries, as well as catering for other business opportunities that we are developing to achieve our long-term business needs. I would like to thank all those members of staff and contractors who have contributed to this move and hope staff and customers alike will enjoy the benefits of the new site.’

The Northern Delivery Office is open six days a week: Monday to Friday 6am to 6pm and Saturdays 6am to 12.45pm. These opening hours allow customers to collect parcels on their way to and from work for greater convenience. The telephone number for the office will remain 816735.
