There is still time to have your say on who you think is worthy of Isle of Man Newspapers’ Community Police Officer of the Year Award.

The award is presented at the Chief Constable’s annual awards ceremony held in the spring.

This award is a chance to highlight the work done by your favourite officer.

They might have gone beyond the call of duty to help you, worked closely with your local school or been a friendly face to turn to for a chat about local issues.

Every officer nominated will be given recognition of their outstanding efforts with a story in the Courier or one of its sister titles.

After the nominations deadline, a judging panel at Isle of Man Newspapers will face the difficult task of choosing the winner.

Officers can be of any rank in the force and those who have been nominated in previous years can be put forward again.

Last year, Special Constable Andy Culshaw was Isle of Man Newspapers’ Community Police Officer of the Year for his work with youth groups in the north of the island.

The first nomination we received this year was for the Police Dog Unit, comprising Sergeant Ian Kelly, Constables Michael Dougherty and Niall Killey and their eight highly-trained dogs, as well as Constable Paddy Moore. They were nominated for their work engaging youngsters and keeping the community safe.

The next nomination was for Constable Paddy Moore, who has been described as ‘a great ambassador for the constabulary’.

To make a nomination send the full name of your chosen officer, and your reasons for choosing him or her, to: Jackie Turley, Isle of Man Newspapers, Peel Road, Douglas, IM1 5ED, or email jackie.turley@newsiom.co.im

The deadline for nominations is 5pm on Friday, March 11.

Please include your own full name, address and phone number so we can contact you.
