More than £2,700 has been raised for a Manx breast cancer charity by staff from Old Mutual International.

Staff at the Onchan company raised £2791.49 for the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, a charity which aims to enhance breast cancer treatment in the island.

Halina Holohan, team leader in the broker services department, organised numerous events, which included raffles and cake sales as she wanted to support a local charity.

‘With all the local fundraising, [the charity] have managed to build the breast unit. All females on the Isle of Man will have to use the unit for breast screening and I have seen all the hard work the charity have put in – I wanted to be a part of the success,’ she said.

Around £1,500 of the money raised will go towards a reading room in the breast care unit, which is sponsored by Halina and the Old Mutual team.

Halina said she has been ‘totally overwhelmed’ by the support she has received from her colleagues. ‘We are so busy at present and it brought the company together again and shows someone is always there to help. I would like to thank all my team in broker services for their help and all of Old Mutual International Ltd for their support.’

The charity is currently fundraising to equip the breast care unit at Noble’s Hospital. For more information visit www.manxbreastcancersupportgroup.com
