The UK and Ireland’s biggest poker tour returns to Douglas this week.
The event, organised by one of the island’s biggest companies, PokerStars, will start with a free-to-view 3D projection and lighting spectacular at 8pm tonight (Wednesday), which has been commissioned to celebrate 10 years of the firm being on the island.
The festival takes place at the Villa Marina in Douglas and consists of 13 tournaments with the main focus on the £440 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event, which starts tomorrow (Thursday).
This year’s tournament will attract poker players from all across Europe and ever further afield, as well as well-known members of Team PokerStars Pros and many local players. For the second year running, the festival will overlap with the Isle of Man International Chess Tournament demonstrating the synergies of the two mind sports.
This is the third time PokerStars has brought the live poker festival and hundreds of players to Douglas.
PokerStars says it wants to say thank you to the local community for 10 ‘fantastic’ years in the island.
There will be 3D projection and lighting spectacular shows in the Villa Marina gardens for around five minutes and will be repeated each night of the festival.
Wednesday’s light show will be followed by five more.
Wednesday: 8pm
Thursday: 8pm and 9pm
Friday: 8pm and 9pm
