A ONE-day seminar called Marriage by Design takes place at the Creg-ny-Baa hotel on Saturday.
Described by leader Maddie Porter as a ‘relationship education experience for anyone getting married’, the event is being hosted by the Care for the Family charity and aims at strengthening family life.
Mrs Porter said: ‘Evidence suggests that adult couples who have even an element of relationship education are likely to be still in their relationship after five years. To put that in perspective, one in four divorces happen within the first five years.
‘So this is about building a life-long relationship rather than planning a wedding.’
She added the session was not in any way intimidating or embarassing.
‘There are no cringe-worthy role-playing sessions and group work. Instead you will find it is fast-paced and light-hearted and there is some discussion in couples about sharing values and priorities, good and bad communication and how to resolve conflict.’
The session runs from 9am to 4pm at the Creg-ny-Baa hotel on Saturday September 24.
