The playground area in Castletown’s Poulsom Park has had a very colourful facelift thanks to the voluntary efforts of staff from Optimus Fiduciaries Limited, which is based in the town.
The authority provided the paint and brushes while Optimus provided the muscle power. More than 40 members of staff took part in the one-day scheme last Friday and were split into two teams – one painted in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
Commissioners’ clerk Eddie Convery thanked the staff for their hard work, and said: ‘To take time out of their working day and to have so many of their staff taking part has been absolutely fantastic. The park looks great and will be a benefit to Castletown not just for the remainder of this summer but for years to come.’
Gill Titley, of Optimus, said: ‘It is really good to be able to put something back into the local community.
‘When we were approached by the commissioners we had such an enthusiastic response from our staff to take part, and we appreciate the directors allowing us to do this as part of our working day.’
This was the first of a series of community-based events the Castletown firm plans to conduct in the coming year.
