Ramsey resident and Bethel Church member John Seaman is currently serving on the M/V Logos Hope, a Christian charity vessel operated by the OM Ships organisation.
The ship is crewed by 370, mostly young people, from 55 to 60 different nationalities and is currently in Taichung.
Mr Seaman says the purpose of the ship is to ‘spread knowledge’ - through the sale of books – as well as material and physical help in areas such as Taiwan when typhoons and other natural disasters occur. The other purpose is to spread what he calls ‘the Hope of the Christian Gospel’.
On a Church team recently to Linnei in Central Taiwan John showed the Manx flag with other team member from Australia, Sweden, Brazil and Malaysia.
Future ports of call include Penang, Yangon and Colombo before the ship heads for East Africa.
