A charity boxing night with a difference will take place at the Villa Marina on September 25.
The ‘Thriller at the Villa’ will include fights between drag queens as well as charity head shaving and body waxing.
And even better, all the money raised will be going to local charities, Hospice Isle of Man and the children’s hospice, Rebecca House.
The night will also feature teams from Ramsey and Douglas slugging it out against each other.
But rather than experienced fighters, most of the people taking part on the night will have never been in a boxing ring before.
The teams are made up of volunteers who have trained especially for the event.
Chris Mooney, from event organisers PSS, said: ‘Every fighter has volunteered their time for free, the majority are just members of the public rather than experienced boxers.
‘We want to make it a laugh, but they’ve all gone through the correct procedures with doctors and health and safety, and are fully insured and have had medicals.
‘We’ve got the teams from Ramsey and Douglas.
‘Each fighter is raising their own sponsorship money so we’re aiming to reach a total of £25,000 to hand over to the charities.
‘There will also be a raffle with some great prizes, we’ve got signed gloves from Frank Bruno and several companies have donated prizes.
‘We’ve got lots going on, people having their head shaved or lads having their bodies waxed.’
The PSS Facebook page also has a link to live streams of some of the fighters training.
Head of income generation for Hospice, Mary Doyle added: ‘We are delighted that Chris has come up with this unique way of raising funds for us and doing something different on the Isle of Man.
‘Chris and the team have worked hard ensuring the night is a real “thriller”.
‘We are a small team of fundraisers so to have someone with Chris’s passion and drive in bringing this event to fruition is truly appreciated.’
Tickets cost £20 and are available from by calling the Villa Gaiety on 600555.
