Two local companies have joined forces to help orphans in Africa.
Maitland, with the support of Shoprite, are collecting essential items for the Kanjanji Orphan Project, a community- based organisation caring for morethan 500 orphans and widows in Zambia.
Founded in 2008, Kanjanji is totally reliant on donations of school fees, school uniforms, shoes, books, stationery and food.
There will be collection points at the four larger Shoprite stores in Douglas, Port Erin, Ramsey and Peel, and Iceland supermarket in Douglas, from July 25 until August 22.
Items needed are school uniforms, clothes and shoes for children of all ages, balls, kids’ books, toys, paper, pens, crayons, ruck sacks, spectacles, bedding, blankets, sleeping bags, curtains, towels, pots, pans, plastic bowls, kitchen utensils, lunch boxes, water bottles and sewing cotton.
