Four choristers have received prestigious singing awards from the Royal School of Church Music.

Michael Hoy, Christine Litman, Peter Boussogou and Helen Terry were presented with their awards after passing exams in the Voice for Life training scheme.

Chairman of the school for the Liverpool area, Michael Jones, visited the island to hand out the four certificates and medals.

Mr Jones attended a church service at Kirk Braddan Church to present its choir member Michael Hoy with his award, then later went to St German’s Cathedral to present three of its choristers, Christine Litman, Peter Boussogou and Helen Terry, with their awards.

Christine and Michael passed the silver standard exam while Peter and Helen passed the bronze.

The Royal School of Church Music has validated examiners who test the candidates on a wide range of musical skills and liturgical knowledge.

Candidates can work through awards in the following order: white, light blue, dark blue, bronze, red, silver, yellow and gold.
