The Mount Murray hotel is up for sale.

The hotel closed earlier this year, 15 months after a fire caused significant damage to the main accomodation block.

Planning permission has subsequently been obtained for a for a 110-bedroom five-star hotel and casino.

Savills, described as a ‘real estate advisor’ is acting on behalf of owners The Derwent Group. No price has been listed.

It says the hotel is set in 200 acres (81 hectares) of countryside alongside an 18-hole championship golf course with club house and driving range, a health and fitness centre and extensive banqueting and conference facilities. Only the hotel is for sale.

Savills said: ‘Enabling works to allow reinstatement of the hotel element are already under way.’

Tom Cunningham, associate director of licensed leisure at Savills, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to invest in a hotel development at one of the Isle of Man’s premier leisure resorts.

‘Planning consent for a luxury hotel also offers the buyer flexibility to put their own stamp on the property and further enhance long term income.’

The complex was built by developer Albert Gubay in the nineties.

Update: The original information supplied by the estate agents, which claimed that the entire complex was for sale, was incorrect. They have clarified that only the hotel has been listed as for sale.
