The Family Library’s Summer Reading Scheme is launched on Saturday and youngsters wishing to take part are being encouraged to register.

Librarian in charge Mary Cousins said: ‘We are really excited about this year’s scheme, although we have a lot to live up to following the success of similar schemes in previous years.

‘We are just putting the finishing touches to the launch event and the scheme itself and soon all will be revealed!’

The last two Summer Reading Schemes have had the themes of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Time Machine.

Each scheme saw participants encouraged to read a certain number of books and to take part in a variety of workshops and tied-in events.

This year, a mad summer of reading fun is promised, with a Wonderland theme.

Full details of the scheme will be revealed at the launch, which takes place at the library on Saturday.

You can register beforehand by dropping in at the library, which is next to the children’s playground in Westmoreland Road, Douglas, or calling 640650.

Alternatively, pay a visit to the website www.familylibrary.im

There is no need to worry if you don’t register before the launch, however, you can still do so afterwards as the scheme runs throughout the summer.

The Family Library is open Tuesday to Friday, 10am-5pm except on Thursdays when it is open 1.30pm-5pm. On Saturdays, it is open 10.30am-4pm.
